Abstract

The paper presents a study that examines the mechanisms of transaction governance in Russian manufacturing sector using data obtained from interviews of Russia’s medium sized manufacturing enterprises (957 respondents). The research uses two different approaches to analysis, i. e. the approach of New Institutional Economics and that of value chain theory. These approaches are used to classify the firms within Russian manufacturing, to demonstrate which type of transaction governance mechanism prevails, and to analyze influence of type of governance on model of corporate control, price competition, model of quality assurance and assessment of uncertainty and risk by CEOs of enterprises.
