Textile Trust in St. Petersburg in the Early Twentieth Century
Abstract
The article presents the analysis of performance of the textile trust in St. Petersburg in the beginning of XX century. It is shown that the balance of interests and resulting effective relationships of shareholders and managers were the important factors affecting the efficiency of the fi rms. In the article a firm is viewed not only as an organizational structure but also as a mechanism of institutional coordination of individual and group interests. The article provides new perspectives for the deep understanding of institutional changes in ethnic and family business.
