Abstract

Purpose: to determine the algorithm for the applied and practical work of psychologists in personnel management within the framework of psychological support for consolidation of social capital in the process of organizational development.

Methodology: theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of consolidation of organizational social capital; determination of the structure and level of formation of social capital; development of a definition of consolidation as a special group socio-psychological process that ensures that group members agree on goals, norms, means, style, and methods of joint activity, which has its own level and dynamics of development.

Findings: a logical system of stages for managing psychological support for the consolidation of social capital has been developed. The system consists of six stages. Each stage of support builds on the previous one, deepening and expanding the possibilities of managerial influence on personnel and, thereby, increasing the professional requirements of personnel training and development services employees. Some of the currently available diagnostic methods for assessing the social capital of an organization are presented, including the author’s methodology for assessing its main components, which makes it possible to combine indicators of social capital in the “consolidation index”. The result of the study is a description of the specifics of group methods of training staff in the processes of consolidating social capital: discussions, focus groups, business games, and trainings that develop social networks and human resources of the organization.

Originality and contribution: the research contributes to the systematization of socio-psychological intervention methods in managing the consolidation of organizations’ social capital. Unlike existing works, the article presents the path of a logical and step-by-step socio-psychological process of personnel development associated with purposeful steps of managerial influences aimed at forming a high level of social capital and employee commitment to goals, values, and organizational norms. The consolidation of social capital determines the strategic management of an organization and its reputation.
