Competencies Model of a Leader In a Healthcare Organization: International Experience of Distributed Leadership Implementation

Modern priorities of healthcare development lead to an increasing interest in the leadership in management. Among many leadership theories, the distributed leadership theory emerges, allowing to broaden the possibilities of modern leader in teamwork organization. A statistic analysis of effective international experience of application of distributed leadership models in worldwide health institutions was conducted to understand the connection between leader’s competences (team management, building and mending relationships, self-awareness) and factors of distributed leadership (emotional intelligence, creativity, clinical competencies). On the basis of prevalence analysis of distributed leadership competences and competences correlation factors in selected materials as well as on the revealing of association of examined attributes, a healthcare leader’s competences model was designed based on distributed leadership concept.
