Nowadays the current system of the leadership thinking alters, or, in other words, the paradigm of the leadership undergoes transformation. The paper describes the key managerial anomalies existing in the new millennium that have caused the crisis in the management theory particularly in the organizations’ management and in the leadership field. As a consequence contemporary leadership models have emerged. The paper provides a theoretical overview of so-called positive ethical leadership concepts (authentic, spiritual, servant leadership, etc.). It also presents the new tendencies connected with a role and an essence of the contemporary leadership. The authors believe that the crisis of the management model is rooted in the capitalism’s value system. The scholars conclude that the core of the new management paradigm is a “good” leadership model primarily based on values. Although, an establishment of a new paradigm is usually a slow and non-revolutionary process, the leadership theory is already in the process of new development. The authors believe that it is time to develop leaders of a higher level.
