N. N. Savvin and Formation of Taylorism In Russia
Abstract
In the article on the basis of archival materials the scientific biography of the one of the pioneers of Russian management, professor of St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute N. N. Savvin (1877–1954) is recovered. The paper discusses the role of professor Savvin in the development of production management in the spirit of the early ideas of F. Taylor (technocratic direction). The author shows the Savvin’s role in the research of cutting processes in the spirit of Taylorism and in the establishment of a corresponding scientific school in Russia. Also the paper analyses the contribution of N. N. Savvin in the development of the ideas of Taylor in Skoda plants (Czechoslovakia) in the interwar period.
